Although the trend of “sneaker destruction” has encountered mixed opinions, British artist Phil Robson has been extremely successful in transforming this trend into conceptual works of art.
Through a combination of sneaker shoes and accessories and other clothing, the artist and FILFURY’s co-founder, Phil Robson, has shown his passion for hiphop, British music culture, sportswear and sneaker shoes.
Works from sneakers recreated in the form of skulls, insects to weapons and animals, etc. It is Robson’s rich imagination and unique creativity that has helped him attract attention and collaborate with major brands such as Nike, adidas, Foot Locker, Reebok and many more.
Robson officially started his art career in 2003, but he said his passion stems from the days he was a teenage boy. Not only inspired by fashion, music and British cultures, travel and migration have influenced Robson’s artwork.
Robson is at the peak of his career when working with popular brands like adidas, Nike, G-shock, size? andJordan, However, what he is most passionate about is creating his own work of art with inspiration coming naturally. He doesn’t want to depend on the customer or on any concept.
Robson said he is a sneakerhead and this is why his work is always related to sports shoes. Rob shared this is just the beginning. He also has many other inspirations and also wants to create more artworks from other fashion items. Currently, Robson’s favorite shoes are Nike VaporMax. But on rainy days in the United Kingdom, Robson often chooses the Sneaker Boots 90s and 95s.
Robson’s inspiration in addition to the stylish sneaker shoes is also the insects and skull motifs. He said his passion for graphics made him want all his work to be symmetrical. Skulls and insects helped greatly with this artistic choice of Robson.
Currently, Robson is preparing for his upcoming personal art exhibition. In the future, Phil also intends to create more artwork inspired by music. In addition, he is planning other artistic aspects: sculpture statues.
